A year after his last impressive EP on the label, Vangelis Kostoxenakis is back on Moon Harbour with three more big tracks that continue to mark out the Greek artist.
Based in Athens, this DJ and producer uses formal sound engineering skills to cook up his meticulous grooves, but imbues them with plenty of real emotions. He has several monikers but reserves his own name for his characterful house. It regularly tops underground charts and comes on labels like Kling Klong, Suara, Snatch!, Stereo Productions and Toolroom. He also runs his own Talk of the Town label and gets support from Radio 1, amongst others. This latest is another sure-fire winner from the ever-rising artist.
First up is ‘Huge Organ’, a driving track with low-slung bass loops that pull you right in. Fluttering percussion adds scale and muffled vocals add a real party atmosphere as this one bubbles and boils with a real sense of energy that builds towards an enthralling high.
The amped up ‘Little Box’ is another high impact track with slamming rubber kicks and manic synth lines all sweeping you off your feet before a huge drop at the midpoint unleashes kinetic drum programming, spinning hi-hats and killer bass.
Last but not least, ‘Monsters’ is slick house track with quirky vocal cries and rich acid stabs. Whirring machines and off-kilter percussion all bring the party and ensure this one will cause maximum destruction in the clubs this summer.
These are three charismatic, heavyweight tech house tunes that cannot fail to get everyone’s attention.
