Matthias Tanzmann’s influential label kicks off 2025 with Moon Harbour Traxx, a brand new series of releases from standout artists crafting cuts designed purely for the dance floor. Brazilian star Gui Wittckind kicks things off with a trio of razor-sharp tech house sounds.
Gui Wittckind only debuted in 2023 but has already cut through with his slamming sounds on CUFF and Moon Child. From house and techno to hip-hop and rock, he draws from many musical worlds and distils them into sounds that escape stereotypes and come packed with expression.
The superb ‘Baila’ opens up with tightly coiled bass and kinetic kicks that hit hard. Muted trumpet stabs bring a hint of Latin flair and numbing toms add a tribal twist. Add in some trippy sine waves and spoken word vocals and you have a real dance floor heater. ‘Houser’ is a little deeper, this time the elastic bassline takes the lead as it bounces about the scales with classic vocal stabs and jacked-up percussion. Last but not least, the sizzling ‘Sauce’ is an action-packed groove with fat bass and a mix of vocals that are both edgy and more sensuous. The layers of percussion are snappy and organic and mean the energy levels never dip.
These are high-grade weapons that are essential additions to any DJ’s arsenal.
